ABSTRACT: Healthy workers and appropriate working conditions not only ensure
enhancing the quality of life of individuals but also contribute to productivity
of workplaces. To reach these benefits, occupational health and safety (OHS)
risk management is the key concept for all kinds of
organizations. In this study, a multiple criteria risk analysis model is proposed and applied in a workplace operating
in the metal industry. The model integrates the Decision Making Trial and
Evaluation Laboratory Technique (DEMATEL), the Analytical Network Process (ANP) and the Technique for Order of Preference
by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS). The model provides a scientific
approach for risk assessment and suggests a precedence order of the workshops
for the risk control stage. The study contributes to the literature by
considering the interrelations between risk factors and determining a ranking
order in order to put preponderant risks forward with an integrated approach.
Furthermore, in the application study, it is considered not only the traditional risk factors but also the
psycho-social factors. The findings of the study offer fruitful inspirations to
the managers in metal industry and the
approach is believed to have a wide range of applications for risk assessment
and analysis in the field of OHS.
