ABSTRACT: With
the decline in transportation costs and the development of Internet technology,
the functional connections between cities within the region have shifted from
vertical hierarchical relationships to network connections. A study of city
networks can provide a more detailed understanding of the interrelationships
between cities. This article reviewed the research process of urban networks,
classified and sorted out the existing urban network research in terms of research theories, and
research method and contents, and pointed out the differences and problems in
the existing domestic and foreign urban network research. Finally, the development
trend of the research on the city network was prospected.
