ABSTRACT: This research deals with coarse grain sediments obtained from sieving of quaternary depression and valley fill sediments from desert and desert boarder’s regions southwest Najaf city-Iraq. Physical, chemical and mineralogical analyses of these sediments were done to reveal the sedimentary origin of these sediments. The results indicated that parent rocks of these sediments were not from the Arabian shield where they were transported for short distances from sedimentary rocks cover that is located at the outskirts of the Arabian shield.
