ABSTRACT: Depending on the power and influence of the incidental learning, some of the thematic words such as days, months, seasons, numbers, school rules are hung in coloured strips on some school or class walls in our country and recently on the school stair steps. Students are expected to see these words every day and learn the words while trying to understand the contents. Such practices are usually seen at primary or high school level, because students at higher education institutions are considered not interested in these contents due to their age. In this study, it was investigated whether a similar extra curriculum-based method had any contributions in the acquisition of vocabulary in a foreign language by taking into consideration the age and level variables at Harran University School of Foreign Languages.
