ABSTRACT: A metallic binary-groove gratings, which can be exploited to absorb light at C-band and sense materials with refractive index (1.0 - 1.2), is proposed and investigated numerically. Both ultra-high absorption (99.937%) and sensitivity (1600 nm/RIU) are achieved.
