ABSTRACT: The aim of this paper is to investigate the concepts of Corporate Governance (CG) and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and to examine how they contribute to excellence in business. In the last decade, a significant number of business organizations, including banks have suffered serious financial crisis and even gone bankrupt. CG and CSR here have become two useful tools in the recent years for the organizations to avoid such crisis. Grameen Bank (GB), a Bangladeshi bank operating in the micro-financial sector has been taken under the investigation through case study to meet the objective of the paper. The bank has experienced a tremendous success and growth over the years even amidst the turbulent financial crisis. The paper intervened to relate the role played by the CG and CSR programs behind these unusual phenomena from a critical point of view.
