ABSTRACT: Vein of Galen aneurysmal malformations (VGAMs) are rare congenital abnormalities that can cause severe morbidity and mortality. VGAMs present in different way from vein of Galen aneurysmal dilatations (VGADs). The VGAMS have a parenchymal arteriovenous malformation that drains through the vein of Galen whereas VGADs may present with intracranial hemorrhage. In neonates VGAMs result in high-output cardiac failure. Surgery offers little improvement, with fatal outcomes in 80% to 100% of cases.
