ABSTRACT: In this paper a solution to the problem of the self-generated magnetic field of the Earth is pro-posed. The solution is based on the existence of a steady-state current distribution localized in some region inside the convective zone of the planet, constituted by the fluid Outer Core. The magnitude of the self-generated magnetic field is obtained and it is shown to be a dipolar field.
