Special Issue on Neonatal and Developmental Medicine

Neonatal medicine is a subspecialty of pediatrics that consists of the medical care of newborn infants, especially the ill or premature newborn. It is a hospital-based specialty, and is usually practiced in neonatal intensive care units (NICUs). The principal patients of neonatologists are newborn infants who are ill or require special medical care due to prematurity, low birth weight, intrauterine growth restriction, congenital malformations , sepsis, pulmonary hypoplasia or birth asphyxia.

In this special issue, we intend to invite front-line researchers and authors to submit original research and review articles on Neonatal and Developmental Medicine. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

• Newborn screening procedures
• Neonatal intensive care unit
• Low birthweight in newborns
• Infant and newborn development
• Neonatology and developmental biology
• Newborn defects
• Congenital malformations
• Premature birth: treatment and care
• Infant mortality
• Neonatal sepsis and other infections

• Respiratory distress syndrome
• Surgical treatment
• Imaging and sensing
• Neonatal health care
• Mental development
• Policy, health services and outcomes

Authors should read over the journal’s For Authors carefully before submission. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal’s Paper Submission System.

Please kindly notice that the “Special Issue” under your manuscript title is supposed to be specified and the research field “Special Issue – Neonatal and Developmental Medicine” should be chosen during your submission.
