Bioprocess Engineering and Industrial Biotechnology focuses on the application of engineering principles, biological systems, and biotechnological techniques to the development, optimization, and industrial implementation of biological production processes. It encompasses areas such as bioreactor design, fermentation, microbial and cell-based production, metabolic engineering, process optimization, scale-up, downstream processing, biomanufacturing, and process automation. Research in this area supports the production of pharmaceuticals, enzymes, biofuels, biomaterials, food ingredients, and value-added chemicals, while promoting efficient resource utilization, process reliability, economic feasibility, and environmentally sustainable industrial biotechnology.
