Special Issue on Geometrical Optics
Geometrical
Optics is a foundational sub-discipline of classical optics that abstracts
light propagation as the motion of discrete light rays, which are defined as
trajectories perpendicular to the corresponding optical wavefronts and
collinear with the local wave vector. Rooted rigorously in Fermat’s principle —
which postulates that the path a light ray travels between two points is the
one that can be traversed in the minimum time — this field systematically
investigates the laws governing light propagation in homogeneous and
inhomogeneous media, and further establishes the theoretical framework for
analyzing the imaging performance and basic properties of various optical
systems. The goal of this
special issue is to provide a platform for scientists and academicians all over
the world to promote, share, and discuss various new issues and developments in
this area of Geometrical
Optics.
In this special
issue, we intend to invite front-line researchers and authors to submit
original research and review articles on exploring Geometrical Optics. In this special issue,
