The field integrates hydrology, environmental science, engineering, and policy to develop strategies for water conservation, allocation, quality protection, and risk mitigation. It emphasizes resilient infrastructure, integrated watershed management, and adaptive governance frameworks that balance ecological sustainability with economic development. By leveraging technological innovations, data-driven decision-making, and community engagement, sustainable water management aims to ensure reliable access to clean water while safeguarding ecosystems for future generations.
