Special Issue on Applied and Environmental Microbiology

Applied and Environmental Microbiology studies microorganisms and their practical applications in natural and engineered environments. It examines how microbes interact with ecosystems, contribute to nutrient cycling and are used in processes such as bioremediation, wastewater treatment and industrial production. The field integrates microbiology, ecology and biotechnology to address environmental challenges, improve sustainability and harness microbial functions for agriculture, energy and public health.

In this special issue, we intend to invite front-line researchers and authors to submit original research and review articles on Applied and Environmental Microbiology. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Environmental microbial ecology
  • Air microbiology
  • Geomicrobiology
  • Microbial biogeochemical cycles
  • Water and aquatic microbiology
  • Pollution microbiology
  • Wastewater microbiology
  • Extremophile microbiology
  • Climate change microbiology
  • Agricultural microbiology
  • Soil microbiology
  • Marine and aquatic microbiology
  • Bioenergy and microbial fuel systems
  • Microbial biotechnology and synthetic biology
  • Bioremediation and biodegradation
  • Pathogens and public health microbiology
  • Environmental microbial genomics
  • Industrial and environmental biotechnology

Authors should read over the journal’s For Authors carefully before submission. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the journal’s Paper Submission System.

Please kindly notice that the “Special Issue” under your manuscript title is supposed to be specified and the research field “Special Issue – Applied and Environmental Microbiology” should be chosen during your submission.

According to the following timetable:
