Special Issue on Language and Society
Language
and Society explores the dynamic relationship between language and social
structures, practices, and identities. It examines how language both shapes and
is shaped by factors such as culture, power, class, gender, and ethnicity,
focusing on variation, use, and meaning in different social contexts. Drawing
on insights from sociolinguistics, anthropology, and communication studies, the
field investigates phenomena such as multilingualism, discourse patterns,
language policy, and linguistic inequality. It also addresses how language
functions in institutions, media, and everyday interaction, highlighting its
role in constructing social reality, negotiating identity, and driving social
change.
