Developmental
Linguistics and Language Learning examines how humans acquire, develop, and use
language across the lifespan. It investigates the cognitive, social, and
neurological processes underlying first and second language acquisition,
including phonology, syntax, semantics, and pragmatics. Integrating insights
from linguistics, psychology, education, and neuroscience, this theme explores
factors that influence language learning, such as age, environment, cultural
context, and individual differences. Research in this area informs effective
language teaching methodologies, curriculum design, assessment practices, and
interventions for learners with language-related difficulties, aiming to
enhance communication skills and cognitive development.
In this special issue, we intend to invite
front-line researchers and authors to submit original research and review
articles on exploring Developmental Linguistics and Language
